In ancient cultures, it was believed that the ordinary matter present in the whole universe is made of smallest unit called atoms. The word “atom” comes from the word “atomos” which means “uncuttable or indivisible”. Atoms are extremely small with size approximately around 100picometers (100×10⁻¹²m) and once it was considered as the fundamental particles. Later, as the scientific explanations and technologies in the astronomy advances, it was discovered that the atoms can be separable into subatomic particles likes electrons, protons and neutrons which are further composed of most fundamental particles that are bounded by the fundamental forces in nature. The particle physics is a branch of physics that studies and investigates the nature of the irreducibly smallest detectable particles and the fundamental forces necessary to explain their behavior.
